Chicago food rescue
Chicago Food Rescue (CFR) is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to bridge the gap between food waste and food insecurity in Chicago and the surrounding areas. We aim to make healthy food accessible to anyone in need, free of charge, wherever they are. We believe that no one should go hungry when there is an abundance of food available.
What We Do
We coordinate logistics for volunteers to pickup surplus food from donors and deliver it directly to food access sites, thereby preventing it from being wasted. We work with fellow non profit partners who serve individuals and families who can benefit from the food, helping to nourish our communities.
Our Belief
We firmly believe that no one should go hungry, especially when there is an abundance of food available. By connecting excess food with those in need, we strive to create a more equitable and sustainable food system in Chicago.
Mission:
Increase access to nutritious food and reduce environmental impact by rescuing surplus food and delivering it to individuals and communities in need.
Vision:
To transform access, nutrition security, and the food system in Chicago by rescuing surplus food and distributing it to people with dignity and efficiency. We want to put fresh, healthy food within reach of everyone!
